Project Scope Performed Under: PBN Nuna Contracting Joint Venture
The Tazin River, whose headwaters arise in the Northwest Territories before dipping southward into Tazin Lake in Saskatchewan and back up again into the Northwest Territories’ Taltson River, has been regulated by a dam on the outflow of Tazin Lake since 1939. PBN Nuna Contracting Joint Venture was awarded the contract for the refurbishment of the existing timber weir on the Athabasca Hydroelectric System in northern Saskatchewan.
Project Scope
- Installation of a new sheet pile wall in front of the existing weir
- Placement of granular fill to create a dam-shaped structure and finishing with a Concrete Canvas face
PBN Nuna mobilized equipment by barge across Lake Athabasca, followed by a heavy lift helicopter to the work site. The work was carried out by a peak crew of 8 during the period of July to September 2015.
