Nuna’s vision is to be the premier northern provider of value adding mining and construction services while fostering sustainable Inuit, First Nation and Métis opportunities.The hiring and training of Inuit, First Nation, Métis and local people has been a focus of Nuna's resulting in the Company having, among owners and contractors, the highest percentage of local residents working on projects in which Nuna is involved. Our ongoing education programs and training opportunities will allow the labour source not only to grow, but to advance to provide proficient operations managers in the future. Nuna's workforce at various times exceeds 600 people working on various projects in Canada's Remote North. Nuna has succeeded in employing in excess of 55% northern staff on its operations over the past several years.

Nuna is committed to the development of long term business relationships. Nuna has several successful joint ventures and partnerships with Inuit, First Nation and Métis groups throughout Canada. This diversity provides a unique opportunity for sustainable employment options for Beneficiaries that possess or have acquired the necessary skill sets that could be transferable to other Nuna projects in other communities, provinces and territories. This provides an avenue to develop sustainable trade and business skills necessary for long term capacity building. In all cases, our practice is to source the local Inuit, First Nation and Métis labour followed by local labour within the impacted communities of the projects as a first step and then supplement with other Aboriginal labour if a demand exists and project economics permit.

Nuna is the largest Aboriginal owned civil contractor in Canada. Our ownership comprises: 51% Kitikmeot Corporation and 49% Nuna Management Group. Nuna qualifies as a “northern company” under Inuit Impact and Benefits Agreements.
Nuna's Management and On-Site Supervisors
Nuna’s Management Team and on-site supervisors work closely with our clients to ensure a complete and thorough understanding of their operational objectives as well as the terms and conditions of the planned work.
- Work in progress is monitored daily by management in order to maintain consistent cost control and schedule performance as well as the satisfactory achievement of overall client objectives.
- A high level of communication is maintained by all concerned and clients receive regular and detailed progress briefings at every stage of development.

All Inuit enrolled under the Nunavut Land Claims Agreement are shareholders of Nunasi Corporation, a Nunavut-wide Inuit economic development corporation charged with the responsibility of undertaking business operation that profit shareholders socially as well as economically.

Kitikmeot Corporation is accountable to the Kitikmeot Inuit Association, and is responsible for the investigation of business opportunities that benefit the Inuit of their respective regions, through job creation, training and skills transfer, and/or increased business growth for Inuit entrepreneurs. The company may also joint venture with Inuit or non-Inuit partners and invest in real estate.
